School & College First Aid Training Overview

First Aid Training for School & College staff

These 2 NEW ITC First Level 3 Awards First Aid for Schools (FASch) helps educational establishments meet their need for provision of first aid training for their staff and students.  Unlike First Aid at Work, which does not include paediatric first aid, these qualifications cover both adults and children, including resuscitation procedures for children up to 18. There is an option of both the 1 day Emergency First Aid for Schools (EFASch) and the 2 day First Aid for Schools (FASch)

The Resuscitation Council UK in their 2021 report indicate that a child is between the ages of 1 year old and 18 years old. – RCUK 2021

However, where there are Early Years (0 – 5 year olds) children present, there must be, as stated in the DfE Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, staff available who hold a current Paediatric First Aid (PFA) qualification.

Schools and Colleges have a legal requirement to provide first aid cover for their employees under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, as stated in the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance document L74. The Department for Education (DfE) strongly recommend in their guidance document “First aid in schools, early years and further education” that there is also provision for pupils, students and visitors, which is generally the case despite it not being a legal requirement.

Kiss it Better is approved to deliver regulated qualifications through ITC First which means you don’t need to perform due diligence checks when using us – one thing less for you to worry about. Our courses are predominantly practical and interactive as we know this is the best way to learn and practice first aid, and they are assessed by continual observation of candidate performance to meet the criteria. A course manual is provided and there is no end of course questionnaire to worry about. Successful candidates are awarded the appropriate Certificate for their qualification which is regulated by Ofqual (Level 3 RQF) and is valid for 3 years.
