Essential Outdoor life saving skills

This qualification, accredited by ITC First is designed to meet the needs of those working away from immediate assistance (more than 30 mins) in the remote and rural regions of the UK.

This Outdoor First Aid qualification is externally regulated and meets the standards to appear upon the National Qualifications Frameworks of England and Wales.  This course is recognised throughout the UK and is the course of choice for experienced practitioners who use the outdoors.

The course meets the requirements of the Institute for Outdoor Learning Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid Training at Band 3.   This is hosted upon the Institute for Outdoor Learning website.

This course is:

  • Designed to provide essential life saving skills when operating outdoors
  • Suitable for a range of workers including those in rural and remote settings, outdoor practitioners, ecologist etc. and will maintain the license to practice for those with Outdoor National Governing Body Instructor awards.
  • Required for most UK NGB Outdoor Instructor Awards
  • Highly practical and contextualised to the outdoor environment with elements occurring out of doors in outdoor clothing and on various terrains. The course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance.
  • Available with additional paediatric content for Forest School Practitioners  or those requiring a Paediatric First Aid qualification
  • Successful completion will result in candidate gaining ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid with a valid (licence to practice) lifetime of 3 years from date of completion
  • The qualification is revalidated by attending another similar course after 3 years
  • Candidates requiring an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate can acquire this by successfully completing a minimum of Day 1 of the course. There is a small additional fee.
